General Product Information
The result is the same, but the process is different. The E-Z Trays are incredibly easy to fit, and are typically thicker than the dental fitted trays. But, because the tray is fitted by a person biting into the tray, a balanced bite is achieved. The upper tray is more comfortable due to this balanced bite - when you swallow all your teeth touch at the same time. The lower tray has a balanced bite as well, but can have a harder time keeping the gel in place than a dentist fabricated tray.
The gel has a mint taste and is quite pleasant.
Yes, we offer a 5.2 oz/148g gel bottle which is currently available only at Eckerd's and Walgreens, and online here of course. The bottle is also used as a toothpaste booster, by mixing it 50:50 with your toothpaste.
The kit should be stored at a temperature above freezing and under 85ºF and out of direct sunlight.

How It Works
The hydrogen peroxide soaks into the teeth's dentin and enamel. It removes stains that have penetrated into the teeth over the years, and changes colored compounds into colorless ones by an oxidation process.
Carbamide Peroxide has a molecular weight of 94.07; Hydrogen Peroxide has a molecular weight of 34.01. Therefore it takes 2.76 times as much Carbamide Peroxide to have the same whitening ability as Hydrogen Peroxide. For example 15% Carbamide Peroxide is equal to 5.42% Hydrogen Peroxide.
Comparisons
At least $200.00. Also, the method by which the mouth trays are fitted. Dentist' fees range from $125 to $500. An impression is made of your teeth, then a cast model is formed, and finally the tray is custom fitted. This requires time and thus the necessity of a relatively high fee. Many dentists use a whitening strength of 10% carbamide peroxide while others provide 15% to 22%. Those from 16% to 22% generally produce greater sensitivity and whiten no more than the 15%. The Dental White kit provides a strength of 15% carbamide peroxide.
This is because sometimes the product is no more than expensive teethpaste. Other products have poor fitting trays. The trays are not custom fitted to ones teeth as is Dr. George's patented E-Z Trays. Since 1990 Dr. George's process has been available in drug stores. To date, over 7 million people have found that his process really works!
Health Issues & Precautions
No, not if the procedure is followed properly. The effect on the teeth appears to be no different than the effect from commonly ingested foods or regular dental procedures. Dr. George's formula has been tested at a leading dental research center, and scanning electron micrographs showed no problems. There has also been research published from dentists at dental universities that also confirm no harm to the teeth.
There has not been sufficient testing done on the effects of using a peroxide gel while pregnant. Therefore, we recommend that you not use any whitening system, even though peroxide is found in the breast milk of lactating mothers.
Most will experience some level of sensitivity. We suggest that you purchase a toothpaste which contains 5% potassium nitrate, and place it in your whitening tray and wearing it for 20 minutes. The teeth may seem more sensitive the first two minutes, but after leaving it on the teeth there will be little to no sensitivity for several hours. Then use the whitening gel less frequently.
NO. We would suggest that you contact your dentist. The problem primarily is that the tray does not fit someone of that age well because of their mixed dentition.

Effectiveness
This depends on the nature of the staining and the length of the treatments. You may see dramatic shades of color change overall. It's not unusual to lighten 7-11 shades in the first 1-3 weeks.
Almost immediately, but some of this is artificial. This is because there is a dehydration effect from the glycol base in Dental White. This base is hygroscopic which means it draws up water. Therefore, the teeth will be whiter due to the water being removed from your teeth. But, by continuing the peroxide can easily get into the teeth producing whitening in time. The gel substance works very quickly, but your progress will depend on the nature and depth of your stains. The process should take from 2-3 weeks for yellow stains and perhaps months for blue gray tetracycline types of stains if at all. Most with tetracycline staining will wear it for 2 months, if nothing changes, then they will discontinue use.
Simply due to the thickness of your enamel or to calcium deposits. The whitening gel is able to penetrate and whiten the enamel quicker on thinner surfaces. This should even out as you continue to use the product. This most often occurs on the tips of the teeth where the enamel is thinner due to use. Occasionally, small round white spots occur due to poor calcium deposits. They will be more noticable during the whitening process -due to the dehydration effects of the glycol base- but will disappear within days of ceasing treatment.
No! It will whiten your natural teeth though. You need to whiten your natural teeth completely before having restorations. If you have caps and fillings they will appear yellow after whitening, so keep this in mind! There will be such a difference that you will have to have them replaced. On the other hand, restorations that are old, yet white, will match better after whitening.

Maintenance
Once you have completed your treatments, you should be at your optimum whiteness. Thereafter, it is suggested that you do 1 or 2 touch up treatments every 6 - 12 months to maintain your lighter shade, and remember to boost your toothpaste into a real whitening toothpaste, by mixing it with Dental White TM in a 50:50 mixture.
